OUR STORY
Debi McGlinn has been in the floral industry for 40 years. She took her first job working in a flower shop at the age of 16, followed by design and management classes.
“Before managing a flower shop I would freelance design on occasions. I remember meeting a bride who had little money and had recently lost her mom,” she recalled recently. “With a heavy heart, I designed all of her flowers, trying to make her wedding as beautiful as she could have possibly imagined. Guests at the wedding saw my work and started calling me to design their weddings.”
Debi’s Designs Professional Bridal Florist was born.
“I have specialized in wedding owers ever since,” she said. “My husband, Kevin, and I have been blessed. I was able to stay at home and raise my family while we grew our business. I have always wanted to have a shop and be that ‘hometown florist,’ getting to know my customers and be there for them when they need me no matter what occasion it should be – anniversaries, birthdays, proms and at times when sympathy tributes are needed. And I am doing that now from 1145 W. Spring St. in South Elgin.”
McGlinn has even been able to support local artists by selling their one-of-a-kind items in her shop.
“I put my heart into all my work. I tell my brides that they are all like my girls, especially since I had two boys,” she added.
